CFAS Monthly Board Meeting Minutes
September 15th, 2004
Board members present:

Guests present:
Ray Jones called the March meeting to order at 7:17 PM at Dan’s Family restaurant.
Old business:
The 1st annual picnic is cancelled due to damage at the SCC Star Range.
New business:
Ray Jones stated that he had ordered a JMI case to house the new Meade 12 inch scope that was donated to the group by Bob Nelson. Joseph Strait made a motion to sell the wedge that came with the scope and use it to purchase eyepieces. Frank Sperl seconded the motion and the board unanimously approved. Paul Kronenwetter made a motion to made Bob Nelson a lifetime member of CFAS, Larry Lurie seconded, and the board unanimously approved the motion.
Secretary:
Larry Lurie made a motion to accept the August board meeting minutes, Walt Hamler seconded, and the board unanimously approved the motion.
Treasurer:
In Alan Hoffberg’s absence Ray Jones stated that Alan was requesting that the board consider changing the adopted rules to allow the President to call for a periodic audit of club finances.
Membership:
There were no new members to approve .
Programs:
Ray Jones stated that the Planetarium at SCC was damaged by the hurricanes and the October and November general meetings would be held at the Orlando Science Center.
Pat Weeks announced that Eric Dick would give a presentation at the October meeting and that Gary Dalke would return in November to give a presentation on the International Space Station.
Publicity:
Joe Strait stated that he would work with the OSC to advertise the next few CFAS general meetings..
Orlando Science Center:
BMAL:
Paul Kronenwetter announced the following proposed slate for the 2004 elections:
President - Ray Jones.
VP - David Furrow
Treasurer - Alan Hoffberg
Secretary - Pat Weeks
Open BMAL – Paul Kronenwetter
Paul added that the above list would be published in the 4th quarter Astrolog.
Observing:
Walt Hamler announce that the SCC Star Range had been severely damaged by the hurricanes and that viewing through the end of the year would be held at the Harmony site.
Walt stated that he had requests from two girl scout troops to hold viewing in January and April of 2005.
Education/Outreach:
No education activities are planned for the next few months.
DSAC:
No report from DSAC.
Science Committee:
No report from the science committee chair.
Astrolog Committee:
Ray Jones announced that input into the 4th quarter Astrolog needed to be submitted by Oct. 1st.
Librarian:
No report from the librarian.
A motion to adjourn was made at 8:33pm, it was seconded, and the meeting adjourned
