President's Call to order. Welcoming remarks.
The meeting was called to order at 6:58pm
Ray sent his thanks the board for their support in his endeavors as past President and Vice President.

Secretary's Report
A request was made for comments and changes to the April board meeting minutes. The secretary made minor editorial changes immediately before the meeting. Larry made a motion to approve the minutes as amended by the secretary for minor changes. Francisco seconded the motion. The minutes were approved unanimously.

Treasurer's Report
Alan explained the treasurer's status and budget variance report.
Larry motioned to approve the treasurer's report. Derek seconded. The report was accepted unanimously.

Agenda Items

Dark Sky Sites
-
Walt investigated a potential site near Wedgefield in Eastern Orange county. Walt and Francisco will investigate this site during the evening over the next week or so and provide a report on the Yahoo group.

Astrofest 2007 Planning
-
Tom discussed the potential for using a site near Yeehaw Junction for Astrofest next year. The campsites will need to be reserved well in advance at $13.25 per site.

Planned for February 16 & 17, 2007.

Tom will try to make reservations for as 9 sites as he can this week.

Walt called for volunteers from the board.

Larry volunteered to take the position and the board accepted his offer unanimously.

CFAS Investments
-
Alan discussed the possibility of investing a small portion of our existing portfolio in more aggressive growth fund. The board agreed with Alan to execute the proposal to invest the proposed amount into such a fund. Alan sent email regarding this proposal to the board earlier in the week.

Francisco moved to accept these membership applications, Frank seconded this motion. The board voted to accept the membership applications from the above families.

Programs have been scheduled for the remainder of the year.

DSAC/Library
-
Derek just returned from the NASA Space Academy. He met with George, the director of Brevard Tomorrow. They work closely with cities in Brevard county. The cities generally don't have good guidelines on lighting.

Derek will be presenting to the Brevard Astronomy group on August.

A representative from a light manufacturer offered to donate several light fixtures for display purposes.

Derek plans to talk with Paul Trembly regarding OSC's lighting exhibit.

Derek and Frank will discuss the state of the library later this week.

Wiregrass event will be held next week at 8:30pm.

Primrose Schools holding a summer camp on June 9th called “Cosmic Clues”

Lee Vista – TBD pending completion of the facility.

Orange county library system
-
Looking for a program to present constellations to adults. One to four events will probably be made during the months of June and July. Extended hours to 9pm on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Each facility has a conference room to hold 50 people. These are possible venues for recruiting and NASA Night Sky events.

Tony will be filing our recurring and one-time events on various on-line venues.

Tony will be periodically requesting 50 free magazines through the NASA Night Sky Network to be used as handouts to new members.

Orlando Science Center

Larry verified the requirements for the next speaker at OSC.

OSC would like to have NASA Night Sky Network regularly scheduled presentations on some Fridays during each month.

Some members requested more use of the star projector during meetings at SCC.

Next outing will be held at the Ocala site on May 27th.
