Call to Order:President Walt Hamler called the meeting to order at 7:15 p.m. at Dan’s Restaurant.
Minutes:Francisco Gonzalez moved and David Furrow seconded the motion to approve the January 16, 2007, minutes. Unanimously approved.
Treasurer’s Report:Treasurer Alan Hoffberg presented the January financial report. (See attached.) Alan pointed out that both Regular and Patron membership are below expectation, with 50 non-renewals at this time. Alan reported there are 85 new and renewed members. Tom Chitty moved and Tony Urzi seconded the motion to approve the treasurer’s report. Unanimously approved.
Membership:Alan, reporting for Membership Chairman Francisco, announced new members:Beeler Gausz moved and Walt Hamler seconded the motion to accept the new members. Unanimously approved.
Astrofest:Tom Chitty and David Furrow reported on plans for Astrofest.
Program:Program Chairman Tony Urzi reported the April meeting will now feature a presentation on Radio Astronomy.
Dark Sky Advisory Committee:Chairman Derek Demeter reported
Publicity:Chairman Tony Urzi reported publicity for Red Moon Rising is under way for March 3, at 6:26 p.m., Seminole Community College.
Observing:Chairman Tom Chitty reported the event with Odyssey may be cancelled because there is a potential conflict with F.C.A.T.
Scientific:Tom Dazey discussed the idea to pursue Radio Astronomy.
Library:Alan Hoffberg brought in the four library books requested by Chairman Frank Gutowski. Alan also showed the labels he prepared using CFAS’s label printer for the books. Alan suggested interested chairpersons submit lists of labels to be prepared by CFAS’s label maker.
New Business:There was discussion about using a free conference telephone call service to facilitate some committee planning meetings.
Adjournment:Francisco moved and David seconded the motion to adjourn at 8:17 p.m. Unanimously approved.
