President's Call to order. Welcoming remarks.
The meeting was called to order at 7:19pm.

Secretary's Report
A request was made for comments and changes to the March board meeting minutes. Walt made a motion to approve the minutes as distributed by email. Tony Urzi seconded the motion. The minutes were approved unanimously.

New Members for January:
Francisco made a motion to approve the above new members. Beeler seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.

Barbara Harris will make a presentation at the May meeting entitled “How amateurs can conduct valuable astronomy in variable star observations.”

DSAC/Library
-
A group of technical writers at UCF are working on a project related to dark skies.

Derek still hasn't been able to process the pictures taken during their overflight a few months ago.

Derek is also working on a project at the Sanford International Airport to retrofit new lighting with dark sky-friendly shields.

Publicity

Another Astronomy day will be held on September 15th as an experiment.

Observing
-
Tom Chitty suggested a few items for next year's Astrofest

Use Kissimmee Prairie Preserve for next year's event. Tony made the motion to accept this proposal, Derek seconded. The board was unanimous in accepting the proposal.

Since the above motion passed, Tom also proposed that all available campsites be reserved for Astrofest. Walt made the motion, Paul seconded. The motion passed unanimously.

Education and Outreach

Girl Scouts at their camp in Chuluota on April 20th.

Six members have signed up so the event will be well covered.

Astronomy Day, Saturday, April 21st.

SCC event starts at 4pm, setup is in front of the planetarium.

Dream Lake event in Apopka on Friday, April 27th.

National Sidewalk Astronomer's Association suggest an event on Saturday, May 19th.
