President's Call to order. Welcoming remarks.
The meeting was called to order at 7:08pm.

Secretary's Report
A request was made for comments and changes to the July board meeting minutes. Frank made a motion to approve the minutes as distributed by email. Francisco seconded the motion. The minutes were approved unanimously.

Treasurer's Report
Alan briefly discussed the treasurer's report. Tony Urzi motioned to accept the report. Frank seconded. The treasurer's report was accepted unanimously.

Agenda Items

The board discussed Dr. Ken Kremer's offer to speak at next month's meeting on the Mars rovers. The board approved an honorarium of $200 is appropriate and acceptable for this presentation. Walt will verify that an honorarium of that magnitude is acceptable to him.

Alan reviewed his efforts to influence a change in the lighting of the Central Florida Zoological Park and Botanical Garden.

Paul reviewed the proposed configuration of Gallery on the website. Walt suggested the quotas be set at 10MB & 25MB and to start advertising the capability. The board also discussed the installation of a bulletin board-style or forum application to supplement the yahoo group.

The board also discussed the creation of email accounts for the membersip. We decided that board and patron members will be able to request email addresses @cfas.org.

The board meeting will be moved to the first Wednesday of the month. Tom Dazey asked to board to consider another venue for the meetings in the future.

Tom Dazey and Tony Urzi both mentioned that the meeting location should be more prominantly highlighted on the website. Paul will work on that area to make it more obvious.

Orlando Science Center

Brandon Lanman is open to advertising those CFAS meetings held at the OSC, if he has the schedule several months in advance. Larry would like to see higher profile presentations made at OSC in the future.

Brandon also expressed interest in hosting telescope setup and collimating activities on the 6th and 4th floors during the Friday and/or Saturday evenings. Also, the scientific committee will be discussing setup and tuning at their next meeting.

Scientific Committee

The astrophotography group does not have a next meeting date set yet. Tom Dazey will ask for a consensus on the next date.

Tom is hosting a meeting this Saturday to brainstorm possible additional activities this committee might undertake. Tom is suggesting a monthly beginners meeting be started to orient new members and potential members to astronomy. Walt suggested engaging Todd Parker for a beginners presentation early next year.

The next NASA Night Sky Network toolkit will be released soon.

NASA Night Sky Network will host another teleconference soon. Paul will forward the notice to the Yahoo group.

Tom Dazey discussed an individual with the Urban Astronomical League who lives in Tennessee and would be willing to talk with us for the cost of lodging. Alan recounted earlier discussions with this organization and difficulties related to CFAS joining such a group. CFAS decided before that it would not join as the benefits are nominal for the fees required.

Frank motioned to adjourn the meeting, Paul seconded. The meeting was adjourned at 8:35pm.
