Have you ever been to a planetarium? If not, you are missing out on a
great learning experience, but if you have, you know just how great that
learning experience is. But did you know, that you can have your very own
planetarium, right in your very own home? Yep! And I am here to tell you
how. All you need is: a large, old umbrella; a piece of white chalk; fabric paint (the colors needed are: red, yellow, orange, green, white, and blue); and a simplified sky chart of the Northern Hemisphere. Now here is what you do: First you open up the umbrella (don't worry no bad luck will come to you for opening it in the house), and put it upside down on a table. Next, using the chalk, mark the North Star next to the center staff of the umbrella. now, looking at the star chart, mark the rest of the stars, and connect the ones that form constellations. Then, using the fabric paint, make the stars the color they should be in the real life sky. Finally, let it dry. Now you have your very own, personal, mini-planetarium, that will fit in your room. Enjoy!
