CFAS Observers Guides by Tim Printy I have spent a significant amount of time working on FREE observer's guides for club members. Presently we have several items available and two more in the works. If you wish to obtain one, I often bring several to the meetings or you can contact me and I will arrange delivery. Present titles available: The Comet Hale-Bopp observers guide The Beginners guide to deep sky observing The CFAS meteor observers guide The Comet Hale-Bopp publicity guide (Abridged version of observers guide for use by general public) The CFAS guide to Astrophotography Future issues and projected availability dates: Planet observing guide (October) Eclipse observers guide (Lunar and Solar) (December) Intermediate Deep sky observers guide (February) I am really excited with how these come out and their instructional value. Anyone who has an idea on new subjects should contact me. I personnally would like for someone to write one of their own. All I need is the write up and I can discuss with that person on the graphics. If you are interested in writing a guide, I will gladly do most of the final work. All you have to do is write about the subject. Some subjects that I think would be good are Occultations (Lunar, Planetary, and Asteroids), Making telescopes and their maintenance, CCD imaging, Variable star/double star observing, Solar observing (I know you are reading this Jeff), and Auroras. We are not limited by these subjects. The topic can be somewhat brief but should be two-three pages in length. It should also give a description of what the observer is going to be doing and background information about the subject. If you are interested, contact me. Be a part of your astronomy club and help everyone learn from your wisdom.
